Migrant children are suffering at the border. But reporters are kept away from the story.

#MigrantChildren #Border #Housing #Journalists #Advocates Overcrowded facilities. Sick, filthy and hungry children sleeping on concrete floors. Young children taking care of infants and toddlers in the enforced absence of their parents. News stories emerged last week about squalid conditions at a Border Patrol detention facility housing about 300 migrant children on the U.S.-Mexico border. The media accounts described the facility in Clint, Tex., near El Paso, that houses children separated from their parents by order of the Trump administration. Apart from their appalling specifics, the stories were notable for one element: They were all based on secondhand accounts. Reporters were unable to see the facilities themselves or speak to any of the children. Instead, they relied on descriptions provided by lawyers and advocates who were granted access under a legal settlement with the Border Patrol. The blackout on press access has left Americans largely in the dark about condit

The Current World Population is 7.6 billion. Global Population To Hit 10 Billion By 2100

7.6 billion #GlobalPopulation #UnitedNations #WorldNews #WorldPopulation The current world population is 7.6 billion as of September 2018 according to the most recent United Nations estimates elaborated by Worldometers. The report also predicted that the global population would be higher by mid-century than its last edition forecast two years ago, reaching 9.31 billion instead of 9.15 billion. It attributed this to fewer deaths as well as more births than it had anticipated. The October date for reaching the 7 billion mark is based on calculations from current trends and Hania Zlotnik, head of the U.N. economic department's population division, said it should be taken "with a grain of salt." Nevertheless, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) announced it would start a seven-day countdown on October 24 that would include a series of events. The world reached 6 billion people in 1998 and was 6.89 on July 1. The report, "2010 Revision of World

Coca-Cola thinks Americans are finally ready for Coke with coffee . . . in 25 markets by the end of the year.

#Coke #CokeCoffee In 2006, Coca-Cola launched Coca-Cola Blak, a coffee-flavored version of its signature product. People didn't like it, and the beverage flopped. Coke stopped selling the product in 2008, just two years after it launched. Bad timing caused the failure, said Nancy Quan, the company's chief technical officer. "That was a trend before its time," Quan told CNN Business. "I don't think people were ready to have a coffee portfolio within the Coca-Cola brand." Now,   thanks to evolving trends and palates , the company  thinks the public is ready . And Coca-Cola is bringing Blak back — sort of. Over the past few years, Coke has been releasing a similar product called Coca-Cola Plus Coffee or Coca-Cola With Coffee in international markets. The new product contains more real coffee than Blak did. There's also an additional caffeine jolt: The product is more caffeinated than regular Coke.Today, it's available in

Who is Boris Johnson, the man poised to be the next British leader?

#BorisJohnson  #UnitedKingdom #TheresaMay #Brexit #London LONDON — Boris Johnson is one of the most divisive political figures in the United Kingdom. He is also favorite among bookmakers and pollsters to become the next leader of the Conservative Party — and therefore the next prime minister — after Theresa May announced Friday that she would be stepping down June 7. But who is this mop-haired eccentric, viewed by many as an inspiring political entertainer and by others as a dangerous populist? May leaves a Conservative Party in open revolt. Johnson, a celebrity lawmaker who spearheaded the Brexit vote, is hoping to win over the rebels, finally, make Brexit happen and be the leader to put the party back together. But he's far from a consensus candidate. Thirty-two percent of people have a positive opinion about him, according to the pollster YouGov, the highest of any politician in the country. But far more, 46 percent, hold a negative view. "He has a polarizin
